Monday-Friday (occasional evenings and weekends) Position is eligible for hybrid telework workweek
POSITION PURPOSE:
Leads the development and implementation of strategies that foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging workplace
culture across the district. Is responsible for designing and managing initiatives that enhance employee recognition,
engagement, and retention, while using survey data and feedback mechanisms to drive continuous improvement in
work climate. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to support employee-focused fundraising efforts,
ensuring alignment with district values and strategic goals. Plays a critical role in advancing staff morale and
organizational effectiveness by championing a culture of appreciation, belonging, and growth.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)
• Extensive knowledge of retention practices, including strategies for employee engagement and recognition;
• Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel; Google Apps;
• Knowledge of the National Board Certification process;
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
• Ability to display awareness of employee experience management systems, such as Qualtrics and the use of
data to improve work climate and culture;
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication
techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, external agencies,
vendors, and the community.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor's degree in education, business, or related field; AND
• Three years of experience and demonstrated leadership in related field; OR
• An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience sufficient to successfully perform the
essential duties of the job.
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
• Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license according to the State of North Carolina
requirements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master's degree in education, business, or related field;
• Strong experience in marketing or public relations;
• Experience with large initiative development, event planning or as community liaison;
• Experience in employee engagement, internal communications, or fundraising;
• Experience working with National Board Certification programs or teacher leadership development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Engages with internal and external stakeholders to create and partner with others to develop a strong
employee service and experience program.
2. Benchmarks with comparable districts and other organizations to research and implement employee
incentive and engagement strategies.
3. Develops and implements best practices to enhance employee retention and workplace satisfaction.
4. Leads the development of comprehensive employee experience strategies, including recognition programs,
internal communications, and initiatives that foster a positive work culture.
5. Designs, distributes and analyzes employee survey data to gather feedback on various aspects of the
employee experience.
6. Serves as the district administrator for the National Board-Certified Teachers (NBCT) program, providing
support for candidates, managing certification processes, and promoting teacher leadership opportunities.
7. Collaborates with key internal and external partners to increase awareness and participation in the NBCT
program across the district.
8. Coordinates and implements fundraising efforts in support of recruitment and retention initiatives, including
developing partnerships, donor engagement, and grant opportunities.
9. Establishes key partnerships across the community for employee discounts, fundraising, and recognition
initiatives, and communicates these opportunities to staff.
10. Communicates the purpose and direction of key projects that align with employee experience, retention, and
recruitment goals.
11. Establishes goals and creates a timeline of events to support the development of specific work while outlining
specific resources needed to complete projects.
12. Works across multiple departments to collaborate and support district initiatives.
13. Creates programs targeting strong workplace climate and culture strategies for district leaders and
supervisors to implement to improve recruitment and retention efforts.
14. Develops and coordinates with the Communications department compelling storytelling and marketing
strategies that highlight the school system's mission, student success, and educational initiatives across
digital, print, and social media platforms to strengthen community engagement and enhance district
visibility.
15. Generates effective correspondence, presentations, reports, and other documents, as needed.
16. Assists with new employee orientation and other onboarding events, as necessary.
17. Performs other related duties, as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This job operates in a professional office and school environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. The position, at times,
must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, students, parents, external agencies, vendors,
and the community. Work is considered light physical work, requiring the exertion of up to ten pounds of force. The
work frequently requires driving automotive equipment, as travel is required to schools, central service offices, and
other locations within Wake County.
