POSITION PURPOSE:

Coordinates graphics and publications for Project Enlightenment, including developing, designing, and distributing training materials for parents, teachers, and the community. Supports Office of Early Learning outreach efforts and educator and caregiver workshops. Assists service staff, supports the Parent Teacher Resource Center Production Area, and creates educational displays, skill-building activities, and teaching aids. Provides technical assistance for materials in the Production Area and library.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)
  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel; Google Apps;
  • Working knowledge of publications software and social media platforms;
  • Knowledge of best practices in early childhood education;
  • High level of organizational skills;
  • Ability to work without supervision;
  • Ability to work as part of a team;
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, staff members of external funding agencies, and the community.


EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Experience in the early childhood education field;
  • Experience in graphic design, marketing, and public relations.


CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
  • Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license according to the State of North Carolina requirements.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate's degree;
  • Three years of experience working with graphic design;
  • Two years of experience working with preschool aged children;
  • Knowledge of current technologies and emerging technologies in the area of graphic design;
  • Knowledge of current design trends;
  • Bilingual.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Promotes school and community engagement by fostering relationships with agencies, individuals, and groups, supporting marketing efforts, and ensuring the distribution of materials and outreach efforts across the community.
  2. Attends community events, organizes supplies, and actively participates in outreach activities to increase awareness of Project Enlightenment services.
  3. Manages and enhances Project Enlightenment's web content, social media presence, and other digital platforms to engage families, educators, and community members while promoting available resources and services.
  4. Designs and develops digital and print materials, including calendars, brochures, flyers, and other promotional content, to effectively communicate Project Enlightenment's initiatives and events.
  5. Collaborates with colleagues across the Office of Early Learning to align messaging, share resources, and expand outreach efforts that support early childhood education.
  6. Assists parents, children, providers, Project Enlightenment staff, and other early childhood professionals in accessing available resources, including technology and multimedia tools, to enhance early learning and facilitate the transition to kindergarten.
  7. Collaborates with the PTRC Component and other Office of Early Learning teams to evaluate and recommend books, videos, social media content, and other resources on child development, parenting, early childhood education, and quality childcare.
  8. Assists in overseeing the creation, distribution, and promotion of digital and print materials for the Wake County Public School System's (WCPSS) Office of Early Learning.
  9. Enters data into the Project Enlightenment Access Training Database including workshop information, participant registration, workshop attendance, and participant evaluation.
  10. Maintains and enters data from workshops into WCPSS site--Wake Learns for WCPSS staff. Provides customer support to workshop participants around issues related to registration and licensure/CEU credit.
  11. Generates, from the database, forms for the workshop presenters including rosters, evaluation forms, licensure/CEU credit forms and others as necessary. Creates folders for each workshop and monitors workshop participant attendance, evaluation, and codification of courses offered.
  12. Provides customer support to childcare centers, preschools and community agencies requesting training.
  13. Serves as a member of the Training Committee and attends meetings.
  14. Embeds inclusive practices into all aspects of work, ensuring that materials, messaging, and outreach efforts are accessible and reflective of the experiences of all families and educators.
  15. Provides additional administrative and logistical support to Project Enlightenment, WCPSS, and community outreach efforts, as needed.
  16. Performs other related duties, as assigned.


WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff and staff members of external agencies, and the community. Work is considered light physical work, requiring the exertion of up to ten pounds of force. The work frequently requires driving a vehicle.
