Monday-Friday (occasional evenings and weekends) Position is available for a Hybrid Telework workweek.
POSITION PURPOSE:
Responsible for overseeing the lifecycle management of all technology assets within Wake County Public School System (WCPSS), from acquisition to disposal. Ensures that all technology resources are effectively and efficiently managed, providing leadership in strategy, planning, and governance. Collaborates closely with departments across the organization to ensure that technology assets align with business goals, enhances productivity, and meets compliance requirements. Develops and implements a comprehensive asset management strategy to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure regulatory compliance. Works closely with cross-functional teams across the school district.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff and staff members. Work is considered light physical work, requiring the exertion of up to ten pounds of force. The work occasionally requires driving automotive equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Google Apps; Windows; Chrome OS;
- Comprehensive knowledge of technology hardware life cycle;
- Strong organizational skills;
- Strong analytical, data-processing and problem-solving skills; ability to make independent judgments and to implement creative solutions to problems with minimal supervisory oversight;
- Excellent customer service skills;
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback; understand key concepts and communicate effectively with technical staff, instructional essential partners and senior management; communicate technical concepts to nontechnical people to enhance understanding and drive decisions that lead to positive outcomes;
- Ability to perform under pressure and management of multiple priorities with competing demands for resources;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, vendors, contractors, and other external essential partners.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
- Associate's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a technical or business field (e.g., computer science, engineering, accounting, business, mathematics); AND
- Five years of demonstrated successful experience in an Information Technology (IT) service and support function in a large-scale education environment; AND
- Demonstrated successful leadership experience; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
- Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license according to the State of NC requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with asset management and related tracking systems;
- Experience planning and deploying large scale device initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops and implements a comprehensive technology asset management strategy, including policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Oversees the purchase, application, integration, and development of technology solutions supporting the mission and goals of WCPSS.
- Oversees the creation and management of asset standards, roadmaps, and lifecycle plans to support operational effectiveness.
- Manages the full lifecycle of technology assets, including acquisition, deployment, tracking, maintenance, and disposal.
- Implements and manages hardware life cycle through status reporting, metrics, and benchmarks.
- Develops and manages relationships with vendors and service providers to ensure they cost-effectively meet the needs of the organization.
- Conducts regular surveys of customer satisfaction with hardware, publishes the results, and where necessary, implements action plans to improve satisfaction.
- Designs, executes, and monitors inventory management processes; creates and implements inventory control policies and procedures across the district.
- Audits inventory by coordinating with external and internal teams.
- Evaluates district technology by ensuring sufficiency of device specification and coordinating with school instructional needs.
- Oversees the utilization of bond money allocated for devices for students, staff, and classrooms.
- Oversees the purchase and distribution of new school technology.
- Proactively meets with instructional leadership to audit technology hardware-related processes and plans.
- Identifies opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and enhanced asset utilization.
- Develops, analyzes, and summarizes data for collaboration with management to make strategic decisions and process changes.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned.
