POSITION PURPOSE:

Oversees staff device program for the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS). Analyzes, tracks, and manages lifecycle of staff devices and other technology hardware. Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines in procurement process of staff devices and other technology hardware. Evaluates new technologies and determines technical compliance with systems to determine viability of use.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)
  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point; Google Apps;

  • Ability to develop and implement new ideas to improve processes;

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or comparable field; AND
  • Experience in an Information Technology (IT) service and support function in an environment similar in size and complexity to Wake County Public School System (WCPSS); AND
  • Demonstrated leadership experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.


CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
  • Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license according to the State of North Carolina requirements.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with asset management, warehouse management, service desk, and other similar systems;
  • Experience with large scale projects and initiatives in a K-12 environment.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Oversees planning, development, and implementation of all processes related to staff devices, including distribution of new devices, returns from outgoing employees, refurbishment of returned devices, and repairs by vendors.
  2. Leads collaborative processes with teams in Technology Services to develop project schedules, determine project priorities, and assign tasks.
  3. Provides continuous monitoring of projects and updates all stakeholders verbally and/or in writing.
  4. Ensures all processes comply with district and departmental standards.
  5. Develops and implements a comprehensive technology lifecycle management strategy for staff devices and other technology hardware assets aligned with the organization's objectives.
  6. Oversees the procurement, deployment, and maintenance of staff devices and other technology hardware assets.
  7. Analyzes and makes independent recommendations on the models and specifications offered as district standards for purchasing.
  8. Analyzes data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for optimization.
  9. Conducts regular assessments of technology assets to determine their lifecycle status and develops strategies for the retirement and replacement of technology hardware.
  10. Identifies cost-saving opportunities without compromising the customer experience.
  11. Works closely with other members of the team to streamline processes and enhance overall efficiency and provides guidance and support, as needed.
  12. Performs other related duties, as assigned.


WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position operates in a warehouse environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, students, and the community. Work at times requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or exert up to ten pounds. Physical requirements are consistent with those for light work. The work requires frequently involving driving automotive equipment.
