Monday-Friday (occasional evenings and weekends) Position is available for a Hybrid Telework workweek

POSITION PURPOSE:

Oversees the standard project management processes and procedures for enterprise projects. Responsible for the planning, executing, monitoring and completion tasks utilizing the PMBOK model. Provides administrative project management leadership and support to the assigned project team and senior level stakeholders.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)
  • Extensive knowledge of project management processes and reporting;
  • Extensive fiscal monitoring and reporting skills;
  • Considerable knowledge of basic network infrastructure and architecture;
  • Considerable knowledge of data flows between integrated systems;
  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Google Apps; Windows; Chrome OS;
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong analytical skills and organizational skills;
  • Excellent customer service skills;
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;
  • Ability to facilitate the development and usage of standard project management principles and documentation, which can include project definition, scope, goals, communication, risk mitigation, and deliverable plans;
  • Ability to proactively apply project management and technical knowledge to improve deliverables, providing attention to details, and minimizing errors and project overruns;
  • Ability to direct, manage, and support multiple project teams;
  • Ability to interact positively and professionally with stakeholders, school system staff, students, contractors, and vendors.


EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in computer science, engineering, business, math or related field; AND
  • Project management experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.


CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
  • Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license according to the State of North Carolina requirements.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Project Management Professional (PMP).


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Oversees project management processes related to enterprise technical projects to ensure their successful completion, within scope, budget and timeline.
  2. Continually monitors project scope, schedule, and fiscal allocations for every project to ensure that all projects are completed on time, within scope and within budget.
  3. Leads project management status meetings within the district to develop project schedules, determine project priorities and assign tasks to team members.
  4. Provides continual monitoring of projects and updates all stakeholders verbally and/or in writing.
  5. Ensures that all project processes follow district and departmental standards and policies.
  6. Gathers continual feedback on project components and implements process changes based on feedback and district and departmental standards and policies.
  7. Works with Technology Services staff members to create, maintain and distribute supporting project documentation for end users.
  8. Analyzes and makes independent recommendations on the project management processes to ensure continuous improvement.
  9. Ensures that project status and related documentation are current and accurately represent the latest project details.
  10. Consults with customers on special project needs and recommends project scope changes to reflect these needs.
  11. Generates project status reports as needed and based on set schedules.
  12. Assists district departments with their project management needs and cross team project management.
  13. Evaluates new project management strategies and evaluates them based on the needs of the district.
  14. Proactively meets with project stakeholders to determine project task status and provides feedback to staff members to promote active planning.
  15. Develops metrics, analyzes and summarizes data for use by management to make strategic decisions and project management process changes.
  16. Performs other related duties, as assigned.


WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, staff members of external funding agencies, and the community. Work is considered light physical work, requiring the exertion of up to ten pounds of force. The work requires driving automotive equipment.
